The Butterfly Lovers (Liang Zhu – 梁祝)

“The Butterfly Lovers” or “Liang Zhu” (abbreviated from Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai),  is a Chinese legend of a tragic love story of Liang Shanbo (梁山伯) and Zhu Yingtai (祝英台) in the Jin Dynasty (AD 265-420).

“…Suddenly, the grave opens with a clap of thunder. Without further hesitation, Zhu throws herself into the grave to join Liang. Their spirits turn into a pair of beautiful butterflies and emerge from the grave. They fly away together as a pair of butterflies and are never to be separated again…” (Wikipedia)

This music box was inspired by “The Butterfly Lovers’ Violin Concerto” which was composed by Chen Gang and He Zhanhao in 1958. Again, I see some relationships between Music Box and GuZheng, so I try to make the new arrangement in GuZheng style.
